Saturday I got to work in the garage for a while and now have my Offenhauser 3X intake and my 3 Carter/Weber progressive 2 barrels installed. I did end up having to cut my firewall to make the back carb clear but it's not too bad and I'm gonna fab a box up to go in that space when I do my firewall cleanup here soon. I still need to do some tweaking on the linkage and the fuel lines (Not installed in these pics) But I got to fire it last night about 10 and it sounds great. It wouldn't idle so I need to make some adjustments but I think it's gonna be pretty mean when I get it all wrapped up. O' and for the guys who don't know me this is in my 53' Chevy pickup with a 235/T5 combo and an open rear end. Hopeing to have all the bugs worked out in time to make the drags. ****o
Ok, so last night my buddy Rick came over to help me do the final tweaks so we could get the truck out for a testdrive with the new carbs. Turns out it wouldn't idle because of 2 va***n leaks I hadn't notice the night before (it was dark and I was sleepy) we plugged those up and it idled out nice but a little fast. Turned all the idles back 1/4 turn and adjusted the linkage on one carb that was not bottomed out and hit the road. With the 3X it's like a night and day difference!! More power, rev's faster and cooks right on down the road. I got rolling scratch on accident pulling out at one point! Over all it's a huge change I'd recommend to anybody running an inline. Today I ordered the HEI from the Stovebolt company, it should be in friday or so more info (if anyone cares) once I get it installed. So anyone got any cool aircleaner idea's for me? ****O
That is cool, im going to run the same setup on a Ford 300 inline 6 I have. Should be interesting stuffing it into a 27 roadster...VERY Interesting!!!
Is that simultaneous or progressive linkage? ****-[re read] and see it now- what are the three carbs CFM rating?
I haven't found any CFM rating on any of the do***entation yet but Tom Langdon said if you rate them like a 4 barrell that they are around 200CFM a piece. ****O
Yowzah, that's cool, it makes my Nicson and dual Rochester set up look really gay. Is that a stock split exhaust manifold.
****o, I have looked at using a second valve cover for three single carb filters, but haven't come up with anything. It would be really cool if O'Brian's made a longer version of their 18" cover for three two's on a V8, maybe 23-25" long for both Chevy and GMC inlines. That would be pricey, but it would look great. Buy two 15" covers and splice them together? O.K., not exactly low-buck, either. How about an aluminum box to cover all three carbs, topped off with one of Langdon's Chevrolet script finned side covers for a 235? Anyhow, your engine looks *****in', hope you give the V8's lots of trouble with it at the drags!

Nads: Yeah it's a stock spit, a bunch of people have told me it looks like an old KS Customs spit job. *****6: I was looking at an old 216 valve cover last night I've had sitting waiting to sandblast to build a Valve Cover Racer out of and was thinking about that. My thought was to make it like a Scoop though so there was only an opening in the front with some kind of flat filter.. The finned side cover would look awesome up there, I'll have to think on that one. I gotta keep an Eye on you Hillbilly.. Today I picked up pieces to build a temp setup. Prob. should have posted about it here instead of starting a new thread. ****O
