Looking for advice: have this setup, all rebuilt, however running very rich. At idle, all is good and now fuel can be seen, however, when applying throttle, there is more than enough fuel from the primary carb. Plugs are full of carbon.

Could the issue be this vacuum tube to the breather? It’s a brand new build, new blueprint engine and all new hoses/lines. The vac tube connects to the base of the primary carb

    Thanks

That is the PCV shouldn't cause rich running.
    Have you checked fuel pressure?
    How is the timing set?
Are these factory carburetors or converted?

Fuel pressure is at 3 psi (in line regulator). The carbs were converted for the setup. I have not rechecked the timing, will be doing that tomorrow.

It does run through the fuel quickly, plus the carbon, leads me to believe there is something off with this primary carb that is pulling so much fuel when I crack the throttle

    Check the vacuum.
Could be a problem with the power piston in the center carburetor.

I've got three rochesters on my 350 290 HP SBC. Stock except the 3-2s and a HEI Vertex.
I'm running 57 jets in the primary and 56s in the secondary's. That seems to be about right, as
it runs crisp with no sign of being too rich or lean.

  6. Is there a PCV in the system? Looks like carb port goes straight to a breather.

    The breather has internal PCV

  8. I thought it was just a breather and not baffled. I had a problem with my PCV and it sucked enough oil to foul the plugs.

  9. What type of air cleaners?

Just simple paper filter, chrome housing. But I’ve been testing without cleaners and still running rich.

IMO, the center one should be nothing more than a stock carb, not modified in any way. I've said before the way to set them up is to block off the end carbs and get the center one running perfect, idle good, performance good. Then add one carb at a time and see if anything changes. Vacuum leaks through the 'flys is always a killer, they should seal totally. --and use a master gage to check the regulator-you'll be surprised to find that most of them are 1 to 3 lbs. off. It appears you have progressive linkage so that shouldn't be a problem, if not and its a direct feed to all three, then go buy stock in advil. The center pcv valve port shouldn't be a problem (providing the pcv valve is good).

Ditch those cheap ass air cleaners.
They are inhibiting air whether you believe it or not.
What jet and power valve sizes do you have installed?

There are many threads detailing the reasons to use full vacuum, not ported
