So ive been driving my 1930 model A sedan for awhile now...unfortunatley the chicago potholes have taken their toll on my suspension. i ripped a heim clear out of the frame brace recently, when i realized my clevis's holding the 4-bar links to my rear end were loose. my question is what do you guys recommend for holding the clevis to the rear end bracket? i was using bolts, but im thinking to have a bolt tighten down the clevis to the bracket is not allowing it to pivot freely, putting more stress on my heim joints going to the frame. i was thinking about a "pin" type setup...like used to hold down trailer ramps. ive found some quick release pins that advertise universal application, but am concerned that if the "ball-release" shifts over and jams in the clevis ill only have more problems. if ti comes to it ill end up getting another set of heim's to go to the bracket...but would prefer to keep the clevis's for now.

    Thanks, ZoB

I run shoulder bolts on mine. Allows you to tighten the bolt so it can come loose but the clevis can still pivot. Also keeps the clevis from spreading out, which I don't think a PIP Pin would do.

One solution is to drill your bolts for cotter pins and use castle nuts. The FOGGER

Wait a second now, you've got a rear four-link that's attached with clevises? They're not meant to be a pivot point, you should have poly bushed ends or at least heims on both sides.

    Need pics.

Clevises are for adjusting, not pivoting.
