Okay, I've Looked Around, Perhaps Not In The Right Places But Does Anybody Know Where To Find A 4 Bbl Intake For The '53 Chevy? Offenhauser Or Clifford?

  3. clifford is definetly the place but you can also find the inliners international home page and follow some links to lots of good inline parts places.

I recently acquired a Clifford 4bbl manifold that I think is for a Chev 6. Clifford 4500. New, never used, never installed on an engine. Make you a helluva good deal. PM me if this is a manifold you can use.

The one that Clifford offers is a 4500WH which is water heated. Think its $289 new. I just picked up a 4500 with an Edelbrock 600 carb off of ebay. But I don't believe the plain 4500 is water heated.

Which way are you going to install your carb? Mine was used on a '56 Chevy, carb is mounted in the normal north & south position. I was told you should mount the carb east & west. Reasoning is that when just running on the 2 bbls, less fuel mixture gets to the rear cylinders. East/west gives a more even blend.

Any one know if this makes a noticeable differce. I see Bob K's car in the Ego Rama, has the 4 bbl mounted east/west on a Clifford intake. Any ideas for making a linkage for this set up?

Don't mean to hijack your post. Let me know if you want me to delete.

being that the question has been sufficiently answered I don think that you hijacked the post. I have thought the same thing about the postioning on my 235. I have it n-s but have thought about the fuel delivery issue. It seems that it would be far superior E-W. If anyone has info /pics of a setup let me know. The carb is a 500 carter.

If you run a 600 Eddy on a stock engine, remove the link disconnecting the rear barrels. A 390 Holley might work with vacuum secondaries but they don’t have them..
Clifford has an adapter plate for a 2 barrel.

@Royce Waddell , this thread is old enough to get a driver's license. Check the date on the post you resurrected.
