I have an Edmunds dual 2 BBL manifold for a '49-'53 Olds Rocket. So far, I know a small base Rochester 2G fits fine. Since I already know that the Holley's From early fifties Mercury's and Lincoln's are the sane base, how many others will fit? I would imagine the original (side mount) Rochesters would, since thar's what came on the cars. I believe there are some Carters with this same pattern as well. I'd like to put together a set of matched carburetors for this. I would imagine the small base 2G's are probably the most common and the best overall, but would like to know my alternatives. Are there some last model Holley's or Motorcraft?

With just two 2-BBL carbs on an engine as large as an Olds Rocket, I don't think there would be a problem with them interfering with each other. Mid fifties Chrysler Corp. two barrels might be an exception, but I wasn't considering them because of their odd base size.

I am mostly interested in Carters, as there was one mounted on the original Offenhauser 3 deuce manifold that they ran on the original Olds Rocket in my dirt car in the sixties. It was also the same as the small base 2G. The word was that these carburetors were off of Dodge dump trucks and were the most successful; setup they ran. Other than that I know nothing about Carter 2-BBLs.

The Carter BBD is more common, and (opinion) probably the worst.
(Opinion) the Carter WCD, WGD, and Stromberg WW are all at least as good, possibly better.
