I have an Edmunds dual 2 BBL manifold for a '49-'53 Olds Rocket. So far, I know a small base Rochester 2G fits fine. Since I already know that the Holley's From early fifties Mercury's and Lincoln's are the sane base, how many others will fit? I would imagine the original (side mount) Rochesters would, since thar's what came on the cars. I believe there are some Carters with this same pattern as well. I'd like to put together a set of matched carburetors for this. I would imagine the small base 2G's are probably the most common and the best overall, but would like to know my alternatives. Are there some last model Holley's or Motorcraft?
Aside from the gasket hole pattern, another issue can be the carbs running into each other. Can you give rough measurements of the bolt pattern? https://performancewholesale.com.au/blogs/news/carburettor-flange-guide I tried to find swap info but didn't turn up much. Might be rare, might be search engines, might be me. Here's one that may help. https://www.hotrod.com/how-to/ctrp-1101-rochester-2g-carburetors
With just two 2-BBL carbs on an engine as large as an Olds Rocket, I don't think there would be a problem with them interfering with each other. Mid fifties Chrysler Corp. two barrels might be an exception, but I wasn't considering them because of their odd base size. I am mostly interested in Carters, as there was one mounted on the original Offenhauser 3 deuce manifold that they ran on the original Olds Rocket in my dirt car in the sixties. It was also the same as the small base 2G. The word was that these carburetors were off of Dodge dump trucks and were the most successful; setup they ran. Other than that I know nothing about Carter 2-BBLs.
Tired "Carter 2bbl same base as 2GC" and of course, it led back here. Might not help with a 50s dump truck carb, but info nonetheless. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...er-2g-carter-bbd-stromberg-ww-others.1245452/
Carter WCD (some 4 bolt, some 3 bolt) Carter WGD Carter BBD (but don't) Stromberg AAV-1xx (not AAV-2xx) Stromberg WW (not WWC) Zenith 28ADA10 Jon
The Carter BBD is more common, and (opinion) probably the worst. (Opinion) the Carter WCD, WGD, and Stromberg WW are all at least as good, possibly better. Jon
