Which 4 cylinder Mercruser engine is best for a lightweight street rod?

I want to follow this. 20 years ago I bought a Mercruzer engine that had a fresh ring and valve job. It has two side draft carbs with all the boat exhust. It has a large alternator and stock distributed. I know I will have to replace the manifolds, but it should be a good runner. It is the Chevy version so it will be easy to get set up. Just need the right project. (Somebody stole the boat while the motorwas out)

  3. I have the 181 inch version in my AVATAR mated to a '39 Ford transmission. I an running a 153 head and an aftermarket intake (Clifford) with stock exhaust. Works great.
