Looking into a 4 link setup for my 1962 falcon and was kicking around the idea of just buying the parts and building one myself to install this 8.8 rear diff. This idea came after seeing the cost of one of the bolt in unit that i hear you end up modifying anyways. Whats your take on this, Is this do able for a back yard mechanic? What recommendations would you make in the making to enhance he performance of a rear 4 link? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Ron
I have always built my own,but if you dont have good welding skills and a decent size welder, and if you dont have a good understanding of suspension geometry, you should buy one and be done with it.You will have to fab the socket ends with the female threads for hiem joints,or make a jig to line up bushing ends, all of which will require some lathe work.
Last I built was a ladder bar. Cost of both bars was under $20 total plus heim joints .So less then $100. Best could find was $299 if I had bought them and mine fit perfectly. A four link would be little different. Cost would be about the same. Don
