Has anybody out there tried putting a top loader 4 speed in a 64 T Bird. The old cruse o matic just does not cut it any more. The clutch linkage I think will be nightmare. :)

  2. You might want to look at the brake and clutch pedal, linkage, etc in a '63 or '64 full size Ford to see if they are close to the T-bird parts as a starter. I know a manual trans was offered in the square Birds but it fairly rare. Don't know if your series ever had them. Goiod luck.

You could do a Mustang cable or hydraulic clutch linkage if you could come up with a pedal that fit right inside.

Thanks for the tip. The Hydraulic clutch sounds like the easy way to go!

The clutch and brake are a defineate issue, aftermarket swing pedals and a 60's side by side master cylinder look promising. anything is possible, why not a manual shift performance automatic?

There is or was a 61-63 T-bird on eBay this past week with a 4 speed installed into it. Different than the 64-66 body I know, but might be worth shooting that guy an email to see how the conversion was done. Looked cool with a shifter poking out from the console.
