not really , just thought i'd post a couple pictures i just found of this machine i build about 1970? i had no idea that there was any pictures of it until my brother game me them. four wheel drive from two `50 ford rear ends articulated from the frame on pivots with a driveshaft running between them .....the steering was brake only , like a skid steer loader. engine was from a International combine. transmission was Ford truck. my god that thing could go through snow/mud/****/whatever.we would take it out and try to get it stuck..never happened. that's me at the controls on the drivers side , and my very best friend (at the time...you do not want to know what he is today) as p***enger. yeah , it's not a hot rod.....but it was a blast
just to make this traditional , it had a copy of a Moon gas pedal i cast in shop cl*** for a throttle
Very stylish! Too bad you don't have any pics of the drivetrain/ch***is...could you sketch it? what you remember? very interesting vehicle!
You've changed a little. I was going to build one of the for snow removal but never got it done. Thought I'd use the two rearend and also two trans to gear it really low. Must have been one of them 70s things.
thank you for your kind words. i don't think it really belongs here as a hot rod , but i wanted to show the young guys what can be done if you want to. back then i had no money and for parts only what was laying around. you just take what you got and beat on them with a big hammer and heat it with a torch and drill a few holes and you can end up with something i remember there was a double roller chain coming off the transmission going down to the front differential , but i can't recall how i did it it .i do remember that the ****** was riven backwards. i had some sort of slip mechanism in the driveshaft to allow the differentials to swing. the only gauge was oil pressure. i did eventually put doors on it and installed a heater as for me friend..all i can say he is batting for the other team now
Well, that could mean a lot of things, none of which are on topic. We actually have something along those lines - it's a kitbashed tractor that has what looks like a home-made frame welded to the tractor trans and rearend, and what I presume is a 49-50 flathead for power - because it also has a chunk of the dash from same with the cluster stuck on the cowl. The front suspension looks like a 48 or older Ford axle of some sort, flipped upside down and again solid mounted to the frame. Has fairly small rear wheels on it, too, makes it sit low - not sure if that was intentional or not.
