I built a grill for my '32. It cost me $40. I'm currently unemployed on temporary disability waiting for a broken leg to heal so cost was a huge factor. I don't have any means of welding aluminum. I'm not a fan of metal mesh grill's and I think the '32 grill shell demands a grill with vertical bars. This is what I came up with. Not perfect by any means but I'm stoked with it. It's made with 1/4" round aluminum bar. Flame away.
Looks great and simple...i like!!! If you can not weld the bars what are they fastened to and how? And how are they fastened into the shell?
That is rad man. To me its way cooler than a store bought one. If only more people stuck it out and built stuff.
The grill shell is fibergl*** (chopped 4", a $40 eBay special). It would have came out better had I not drilled 34 holes in the top half and 35 holes in the bottom half. So then I filled some of the bottom holes and redrilled them to make 34 holes on the bottom to match the top. Next I ran the bars up through the holes. To keep the bars in place I lightly siliconed the bottom's of the bars to the gl***. Not exactly top shelf but it works. I just came back from a test drive and they're all still where they belong. Thanks for the kind replies.
I think it looks great! You should make some more, and sell them, i would problably buy one for our up-coming rat rod!
Looks great , doing it yourself always is a good feeling when it looks good too that's an added bonus , people on here like it , your a winner 3 times
About 25 years ago I made a bar grill for my 40 Chevy pick-up and I know what a job that is to get everything nice and straight. Great job, and it's a one off piece. Can't beat that!!!!
