Does anyone have a photo or illustration of the cowl vent linkage so I can see what I need for an electric cowl vent kit. I have the cowl vent itself and the under-dash handle. Thanks
I installed AC under the dash and ran out of room for the cowl vent handle, so I used an electric motor on my 41 PU. I don't have great photos of the install but this is what I have. I removed the brace under the dash and I welded in a U channel in its place that was wide enough to mount the motor to but out of the way of my AC/heat/defrost unit. This shows the vent and its arm and the location of the motor bolted to the new U channel and its actuator arm. The motor is reversible and continuous so it can be mounted forward or back under the dash, there is no correct or incorrect way as long as it fits and moves easily. You can see I chose to mount mine as cloe to the firewall as possible to get it out of the way.
Buddy, it all depends how much **** you stick under there. I mounted that Vintage Air unit as high as possible (that is what the welded studs are for in the pictures (I hate bolts through the firewalls) and I used an old under dash AC just for the distribution vents (old school cool), so space was scarce. I also had to mount the Newport wipers, Cl***ic Gauges and I still got a decent glove box in there. Plan your work, work your plan.
