I gave up on fixing the original bench seat in my coupe. Found a guy on C/L changing the color of his upholstery and selling a complete interior for a '40 coupe. Mine is a Business coupe his was a modified Opera. I had to make a frame for the seats and modify what was the back seat into a package tray. I'm happy to finally have an interior I can sit on with getting poked with broken springs!
Looks pretty good. I go to TJ to get my seats done. There is a place called Champions they do real quality work. All the guys in my car club get the seats done down in TJ.
Looking good Steve. Almost a year since we were out there, how ya been doing? Are you putting a lot of miles on the coupe? BB
Good to hear from you Bob. I hadn't been driving the coupe much since I tore the upholstery out last winter. But with the new seats looking good (and FEELING good) I drive it almost every day. Took it to a little car show in Mt Shasta last weekend, the only '40 there. How's the new hip?
Yeah the hip is great, almost forget about it 99% of the time. Got about 21k on the 62 this year, am going to Florida in Nov for the Turkey Run, that will add another 3K by the time I get home. BB
the front seat in my 40 is broke down also. I'm thinking of getting a Glide seat for it. Had one in a Model A and it was nice
Seat springs are available for the V8 Fords. Try Snyder's in New Springfield OH. Car-Line Mfg 409-833-9757 in Beaumont TX is also a good source for custom built seat spring ***emblies and new ones for Fords Ts and As. Seats for Ford Coupes/Tudors are good money at swap meets. The split back benches fit both, the lift up back ones are coupe only.
