Just received a pair of hinge pin mirrors from Bob Drake. I didn't know I was going to need to drill and tap the hinge.

Anybody have any problems with that install? I don't like the idea of drilling the hinge.

    Thanks

The purpose of the drilled and tapped hole is to secure the mirror to the hinge so it rotates with the door as it opens and closes. This is how the originals were mounted so...

  3. I like mine. Not a problem on the tapped hole. I used a bottom tap.

Door hinge mirrors were not an option from Ford in 1940. Cowl mirrors were.
Do not mess up your door hinges by drilling into them. If you mess up your hinges you are in a world of hurt. Click on the last photo.
