This was my Forty Coupe. Took 2 1/2 inches out of the top. Sold the car shortly after these pics were taken. Friend of mine bought the car recently and is being completed .Maybe out by this summer.

hey Baron, are those rear fenders leaded into the body? I like the chop, it's a little different than the others and seems to have a slight forward rake, but it totally works for me.

I had thought that they had been welded on and leaded, but the current owner dug all the bondo out and found that they were bolted on and someone just filled the seams with bondo. Car has since been blasted (2nd time) and is coming along very nicely.
I chopped the top an even 2 1/2" front and rear. So it still retained the stock roof line. I think forward rake appears more noticeable with the smaller windows.
When I bought the car(always wanted to chop a 40 Coupe), I was in the middle of a 33 Willys coupe project, so once the top was done,I went back to work on the 33 and sold the 40. I have since sold the 33 Willys, kept the 392 Hemi, and that wound up in my current 55 Chevy Gasser project.
(Same old story.... Too many cars, to little time). It's all fun stuff.

Greezy's is another one of my favorite 40's. Kinda plain, straight foward, great stance and a ton of attitude. I hope mine looks half this good when I'm done with it. Gary

here's mine. I've had it for about 15 years. Small block chev powered, '39 trans, stock rear, the black lacquer is about 25 years old but is still presentable.

Here's a couple from a few years ago. The black Standard was at York 1996. I was digging on the late-60s vibe it had with the candy gold flames, dual quads, etc.

The Purple Deluxe was at GoodGuys Charlotte later that same year.

I have no clue who owns either one.

Anybody got any more photos of roadstar's old coupe... the one where the windshield division bar was molded in to the roof/cowl?

Mine also, I was fortunate to see it when it was at the Hot Rod Garage in Sand Springs [Tulsa]. A lot of subtle touches that probably are not noticed by non 40 fans. I am in the final strokes on my black 40 coupe that will not hold a candle to that one, but I will be glad to be back behind the wheel of another 40.

  23. Yeah one of my Favorites as well.

I do miss that car, but really glad that Gary owns it. He really loves the car. We spent some time hanging out last year in Columbus and he jokingly asked if I approved of the minor changes. I did mention I never did like the briz bumpers.

This is my favorite pic of the old girl.

Here is my very good friend's 1940 Standard Coupe. This car was right hand drive when he bought it(converted many years ago using Australian parts). We converted it back over to left hand drive along with SB Chevy, Turbo 350 trans, Bronco 9 inch rear, etc.

I love the color on this car! I don't think it looks quite like the stock Niles Blue Green or Shoal Green; must be off something else...

This car has a great stance to it. It just has "the look"!

On a related note, I am looking for a '40 Ford coupe trunk lid, anyone have one they wanna sell?:D

Me too. 7 or 8 years ago, I drove in to the LA Roadster show followed by Jimmy Vaughn in his purple Chevy and Lee in his '40. I hopped out of my truck, wiped the drool from my fool's grin, and snapped this pic...

God, this car still fucks me up...
