the stock one un-usable? bob drake sells 40 firewalls stock and recessed hot rod style. i put *****in firewall in my 30 coupe, and i regret it. it has none of the character of the stock one. think this stuff out, and look at as many cars you can.

It is always cool to save all the original Ford sheetmetal that you can...it's part of the soul of the car..

    Good luck, -Abone.

thats a great looking repair! my 40 coupe also had been messed with. i found a stock one on e-bay and won it for 75.00 plus shipping. it sure has alot of little holes to weld up! good thing i enjoy it.

Good thought ... I love some of the recesses that I have seen on the HAMB ... I have a stock firewall in my 40 with a SBC but I will do a recess when I get the chance.

I'd go with Bob Drake's product..... Keep the overall '40 character.

You can find another one here if you're patient. Don't rush into this stuff, move to another part of the build until one comes up here or somewhere else. That's my advice for what it's worth?I have been collecting parts for my project for 2 1/2 years.

x3 on doing it yourself. For me most of the fun of hot rodding is getting to make/modify what ever it takes to get where your going. If your new pick a small project and take your time. I guarantee you the first time you do a patch/repair/modification with sheet metal that turns out nice you'll be looking for chances to try out your new found skill over and over and.............:)
