I am using a Superbell 4' dropped axle, with split original wish bones. The perch bolt holes are around 2 and 3/4 inch narrower on this axle from the standard axle. Originally the bottom of the shock and the sway bar secured to eyes on the perch bolt. The original perch bolts are unusable. I want to increase the diameter of the sway bar and somehow fix it to the front perch or axle. What is the way to go here. I thought to get adjustable perch bolts and hook the shock to one side and the sway bar to the other, using a heim joint and high tensile bolt through the eye of the perch bolt. Will this work? What are you guys using? Any pics of you front setup would be a great help, and can be emailed to bargemaster@ismaya.com.sg. Thanks in advance, Max.
This is the reason why I like using a Magnum axle. It has the same perch spacing as a stock axle. But, because you're already committed, here's what ya' can do. Chassis Engineering (CE) used to (and I think they still do) sell a front sway bar that is larger in diameter than a stocker. They had a wide and narrow version. You'd probably need the narrow. Comes with frame mounting brackets and bushings. It mounts to the axle with typical late model links and bushings. The axle mounts bolt to the bottom of the perch pin and are called "peanuts". Using stock lever action shocks? You can probably still run off the top of the perch pin, but you'll have to weld some eyes to it 'cause the replacements won't have any. Do yourself a favor. Install the (CE) rear sway bar too.
