OK, listen-up you 1940 FORD girls and boys. Just when ya think maybe you've seen about ALL there is to see, something comes A-LOOONNNNG that maybe requires a second look. I've had pictures of this car for a while but was sworn to secrecy until it's availability became public. Supposedly never been restored. Slightly less than 22K miles...all original as built for a funeral home in Napier, Ill. back in the day. A personal friend of mine who judges '40s for the EV8FORD CLUB looked at this car recently and told me it's "right". It obviously started life as a DeLuxe coupe. For you '40 folks with "use or lose" money, it can be had for about $95 BIG! Lots and lots of pics with details at: WWW.VOLOCARS.COM . I have nothing to do with the sale or ownership of this vehicle...just thought it interesting. DD

  15. I like it! Looks good but I don't know what I'd do with it. Or where to park it for that matter.

  16. Both the wheelbase and the asking price are a bit to large for me...and I usually like weird.

  17. Unique, yes! "$95 BIG"?..hmmm.

If it is the same one, and there couldn't have been many; there is a picture of that rig in one of Petersons one shot Ford mags from about '74 or so. It was at one of the early Ford clubs gathering that year. The one I thought the thread was going to be about was a sedan delivery that was extended as a new car for either a hearse or ambulance. It got a lot press back in the seventies too, when rarities were all the rage with the restorer guys. Makes me wonder where that one is today...

Falls into that "cool to look at but don't want to own/buy it" category.

Thanks for posting the photos, I've never seen one of these monsters.

40 Fords are in my top 5 "to own" but that one wouldn't make the top 100. Not to dis the car but it's almost like "turns your stomach a bit" kinda weird.

Not a beauty, to my eyes, but certainly well done -- both the original conversion and the resto.

I wonder how they did the long, straight, side trim?

Hmm, wasnt really paying attention to the fact its only a flower car. I'm still not really interested in anything associated with dead bodies.
