can these hubs and drums be drilled to a chevy bolt pattern?my wheels are chevy and i dont want wheel adapters.
Redrilling the pattern is a simple job for a machine shop ... but you have to be careful ... See how large the center hole is in these 1940 Ford rims ? The hubs are fairly large because of the large bearing inside the hub. See how much smaller the center hole is on the newer rim ? Just because the wheel bolt pattern is redrilled to the new pattern does not mean your rim will bolt up. After market rims ( mags ) generally have a larger center because they will have to fit a larger variety of vechicles.
Since I have a pair of '40 Ford hubs with the studs pressed out, I put some old racing wheels on them to see how they fit. There were no clearance problems with any of them. All of the wheels I put on the '40 hubs were made in the 1960s: American Racing Torq-Thrust 15 by 6, American Racing Torq-Thrust "D" 15 by 6, and Halibrand magnesium 15 by 4 1/2. Just pulled these off my '34 Ford Coupe. I was running a '55 Chevy rear-end and needed Chevy bolt pattern up front. I have now gone to a 9'' Ford rear end and upgraded the front end.
