I think if u move the rear axle forward and raise the engine a bit more, it will look a bit more proportionate.

I've got an idea, which may be a BAD idea, but I'd be curious to see what the viability of re routing the existing leaf springs like an AA rear end is.

I'm thinking you could flip the paralell leaves and rig them to your front axle like quarter elliptics.

Here is a pic that says the thousand words that I can't think of.

That'll get you down the road. I like your headlights. I'm planning on using a set like that.

Yeah, I'd be interested to see if it's been done or would even be safe. You'd definitely need wishbones or hairpins or some sort of control arm rig to stay straight I'd wager.

  9. well, she's registered and inspected in N.Y.S. I'm working out the hick-ups as I drive her.I get the "jaw" from a lot of people as I drive by them. I think it's a cool little hot rod. I'd like to thank my hotrod friends for all their help and encouragement. I think when my friends were busy with their ''stuff'' and couldn't help me that actually helped me the most. It made me accomplish things I didn't think I was capable of. Lastly , I'd like to thank my H.A.M.B. friends for all your feedback, both positive and not so positive. Believe it or not , you can learn a lot from negativity, even if it's just being grateful for a more positive outlook on the world and it's people.

Congratulations for getting on the road!

So what's on the agenda for the build next?

Looking at it as it sits, I'd be considering bigger rubber out back. I recently picked up some old Jeep wheels with 750 16's on them and they're pretty big (32"). Something around that size would look good on the back of this rig I think.

I'm ***uming you're putting anything major off until winter so you can tool around all Summer.
Did you ever get around to looking into that oddball flipped leaf spring idea I proposed?

  11. thanks man.........
I'm thinking I might start building my '30 ford coupe, my '30 ford sedan or my newest purchase, my '37 plymouth truck. I'll start one of those in the next few weeks. I can still drive around and build another hot rod. Frankly, I work better when when I do both...build one and drive another one. It pumps up my creativity. I'm very blessed. Today I have luxury problems.
About the tires,my preference is the skinny tires. I want that look.
About the leaf spring flip...I've been so busy with the build and now with fine tuning her, I haven't thought about that option. There a lot of little things I need to do first. But I'll keep it in the back of my mind.

    Thats a cool truck mate.

I've always had doubts about parallel leaf open wheelers, as the front of the frame sticks out. You very rarely see them, but yours looks good. And you still got plenty of room to shorten the frame more until you reach the front spring hangers.

Sorry if I missed it, but what wheelbase did you make it?

  13. thanks man......
100" from front axle center to rear axle center.......

I checked out your album and the 1940 moredoor to coupe definitely has it going on. Will you post a thread? It's inspirational for sure. Congrats on having the imagination and huevos to pull it off.
