Hot Rods 40 Ford pu block huggers ?

I have a 40 Ford with SBC cast iron stock header , would like to install block huggers , there really not a lot of room ... any suggestions .

 

I'm of no help but have a friend who has a 40 coupe with a SBC and it had a really screwy driver side exhaust setup What exhaust manifolds are on your truck, and is the routing somewhat attractive?

Ram's horn or??? Clearance of the steering box and column appear to be the biggest challenge.

I've never knowingly seen a set of "tight-tuck" SBC block huggers in person, but wonder if they would work in a '40 Ford?

A Hurst front motor mount would free up some space. What steering gear is used?

 

As lake harley points out the drivers side for most '40-'48 Fords is very tight and you need to get very creative with the routing of the exhaust. Many people use a 1967-69 Chevy pick up right hand cast iron exhaust manifold on the left side of the engine. It exits towards the front of the engine to clear the steering box. Sanderson Headers offers #CC-4 header that also exits towards the front. In both cases you need to do some fancy exhaust routing. Block huggers might put you right over the steering box.

 

There is enough variance in mounting style and location that without photos of your specific instalation, we're all just guessing.

Here's my '38 for example...same ch***is. Early 70's truck ram horns fit perfectly. I'm pretty sure I could get a set of block huggers to fit. But, I've offset my engine 1/2" to p***enger side, have my steering box up tight to the frame rail...etc.
