40 ford standard grille any good ones besides Drake?

Thanks fellas. I'll see what happens with this one that's supposed to be shipped already and go from there I really want a chrome one but if I can't find one I'd use that painted one and sell it later rather than have a grille keep from finishing the car. I'm still a couple months away from absolutely needing it so I'll have to see what happens.

 

Russco--sent you a private message--let me know how it goes. A month ago I found a NOS one with the tags and the center piece in the orig Ford box-never been on a car-had to have it (don't know why)-has a receipt from a dealer dated 1957. A few years back I had a mint orig rechromed in Lodi for $300--probably a lot more now. They are out there.

 

I dont think there are any chrome 40 Std grilles available right now. Everyone I know is awaiting restock, especially complete chrome units I have been attempting for a year to get one.

 

40 std chrome grilles---was at Turlock today--Drake had both deluxe and std -- std was chrome---I'm sure others here saw them as well.

 

Thought I'd post an update on this. Gearhead didn't have the grille in stock anyway (they were likely going to try to drop ship from Drake or someone else) they did give me a refund on my CC. Meanwhile I got a PM from a guy on here that had a Chrome Drake grille new in box from a project he had sold off so I struck a deal and got it. Thanks Gary!

The 40 Std./40-41 grille was never sold in a set by Ford, and neither was the 40 DeLuxe. They were sold by the piece. R and L side and center for the Std. and R and L and 2-piece center strip for the DeLuxe.
