I have 5 '40 ford stock wheels with trim rings.....wheels need light blasting and paint...trim rings are very usable and still on wheels....what are they worth......i know....there worth what you can get for them...........thanks in advance for the help
There's a guy North of here that's got some for sale. No beauty rings, just unpainted wheels. (4" wide, $100+ pr.? 4.5" wide, and 5" wide...4.5" were cheapest, but 5" wide were way up there. You can find 'em listed on the Ford Barn, Sister to the HAMB...in the Early V8 section... (or is it 'brother' to the HAMB?)
if you have true 1940 wheels they are different than all other 41 to 48 wheels, a step down on the rear side as oppossed to a slanted surface on the 41 to 48. True 40 wheels in good, not rusted condition go for 50 to 75 each, good condition trim bands go for 10 ea and up, hubcaps standard or delux go for about 25 for a not dented cap down to a 1 for dented but repaiable ones
Instead of asking "What are they worth?" you should be asking "What would YOU pay for them?" Answer: Nothing, but someone else might want them, ask them.
I'm easy....what will someone pay for these wheels?....how's that?.......life is good and simple......if you make it that way.....hehehe
have you checked them to see if they are true and no wobble? what about rust pits? i sold a pair that were true , no pits and sand blasted and primed for $100 afew years ago...too cheap my experience has been if you buy 4-5 old ford wheels....15 or 16"......at least 1-2 will be bent
ive bought them cheap when i can find them. I needed one bad and paid the Early Ford Store in san dimas i think 100 or 110 for one wheel. I asked if they could make sure it was straight the one they sent was worse than the wobbly one on the car. Then i bought six for 60 bucks and only had one bent one in the bunch.
I held them up to the computer...you can see them under Parts for Sale.......5 '40 FORD WHEELS FOR SALE........and I found out they are worth $250+Shipping....The wonders of computers are mind boggling.
Dang, and I was just getting ready to open my wallet. Seriously, hit a early ford resto site, somebody there probably needs them real bad and you can get a better idea of value.
