I’ve got a 40 Ford 2Dr sedan and have to replace the driver’s side window regulator and glass. Anyone have any experience doing this? From the few posts I’ve seen, it looks like a bear because of the limited access in the door cavity. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

  2. Ain't all that bad. Go slow. Have a way to hold the glass up in position. Wedge rubber door stops work well.

Pull the vent window, then unbolt the front channel and remove. Then you can slide the glass forward and roll down the regulator and pull the glass right out. Then to pull the glass off the frame there are a couple of bolts at the bottom corner you need to remove first, but mark the location before you do. Then carefully pry the frame off the glass little by little. There are different size setting tapes for the glass, need to find which size fits nice and tight. Then its just a matter of soaping up the setting tape and pressing the frame back on the glass. I like to heat the setting tape with a heat gun before putting back into the car so it sticks together.

I changed out my regulator with one from Bob Drake. I used the phillips head screws that were holding the original regulator. They were a bit too long & interfered with the Drake's regulator arms. The window would only go half way up. I looked & looked before I found what was causing the regulator to stop.

easy to do--aonemarine nailed it. whne done ck very carefully the screws being too long as mentioned and make sure the stop is in there to keep the window from falling out of the channel whne rolling all the way down-dont recall if the drake ones have the stop or not
