    :)

The first upgrade I did to my 40 Ford coupe was a new electric wiper motor. I got the Newport Engineering kit. Worked great...I even bought the intermittant switch option...all less than $200.

But they are 12 Volt..if yous is still the original 6 V........

What was the question? Nevermind, here's some information, anyway.

They're chain drive, they still **** when in good shape. They're vacuum powered in stock form. The motor mounts near the center and drives two arms that connect it to the bottom of the chains.

Newport Engineering has a drop-in replacement electric motor. Drake and others have wiper arms that take 'modern' style blades (not the floppy stock type). And I think they'll still **** after you do everything possible to fix them.

RainX is the answer. Only time I've ever had a problem is in some dense fog that condensed on the windshield about halfway up. I lowered my head to compensate:D
