Hot Rods '40 Fords

What is it about '40 Fords that make look so good with the hood off? Now don't get me wrong, they look good with them on, but with no hood they just look bad***!

40 Fords are just damn good looking machines

 

I'd like to see a few sedans without hoods.
...may just have to take my own off to see for myself.

 

'39/'40 Fords are "THE" car....hoods or no hoods! Wish I had one. I think they look good without hoods because of the "roundness" of the fenders...they just roll from front to rear and side to side and you don't realize anything is missing.

 

I like em either way, and any way there done (except street rodded or rat rodded) g***er, custom, stock car, hot rod, stock. I think that the 39/40 was the pinacle of the automobile. Definatly one of the best cars ever built that really needs no modification.

 

Because they are the most perfectly proportioned car ever designed.

 

I've been running mine hoodless for 18 years and 25,000 miles......

They do look good with or without. As stated they are a engineering marvel.

They look so damn good without hoods because the hoods are so damn hard to get lined up right....

I'd like to take mine off just to see how it looks but I know I'll never get it back on right.

 

A few i've gathered from all over. Hopefully get my 40 Deluxe Sedan out this year, but it's in no state for a photo!

yeh that pale green wodie is gorgous, I guess its all mustang II'd and on air. How did you get yours that low? Very cool Woodie by the way.

 

the green wagon one is a MII on air.. and if i recall correctly he has a 4 link under the rear??

my 40 is MII up front with a chevy truck arm suspension under the rear..

my vert sedan is identical..

 

Here's my '39 Deluxe a few months ago. Now it doesn't have a hood....... Or fenders, or doors, or decklid, running boards . All blocked ready to be wet sanded now!

I always felt the '40 was just about the most beautiful car ever built. I drove my coupe last summer with the hood off. I like it better with hood on. I liked it so well I bought a '41 truck to match!

Damn I love them 39/40 Fords! Sawzall that thing you got there is sweeet! I gotta get me one of these.

 

I prefer them with the hoods on -- strongly. In my opinion, **** Falk has the best looking '40 on the planet:

 

They even look good on dragstars. Anyone who knows me knows that for me a '40 Coupe Deluxe is "The One". Great thread.

 

I prefer my 40's with hoods, but have seen a few that look good without them.
