    Start to My 40 merc project and My first build thread. Mite take a year or two. Start off with a few pics of what i have to work with. The plan is to have a clean, straight , taildragger, using as many pre 53 parts as I can

    the plan;

    chop top
    skirts
    51 flathead w/ 53 mer-o-matic trans
    bumpers front and rear
    taillights in bumper guards
    straight pipes and headers
    leather tuck and roll, cream color
    suade metalic rootbeer paint with cream firewall and dash
    46 merc dash
    polished br*** radiator top
    www bias on steels with caps maybe bullets
    solid drop axle front and parallel leafs c-notch rear

    Its been done I know but thats what I visioned. Dream car , so I can't die until I have It done. Starting with the frame, its been cobbled a little. Ordered floor and trunk pans from Bradleys. Time saver. I am fabin everything else. troy

  3. Nice project Troy

    I'm working (slowly) on my 39 Merc coupe and they are my favorite customs and much rarer than a 49-50-51 Merc (also beautiful of course)

    Good luck with the progress

    Not much building but alot of gathering. Found and bought some key parts to My build. Inner fenders and a dash w/ the chrome center trim. Spent all My lunch money. Goin back to p.b.j, the new merc parts money diet. Guy had barns full of pre war ford parts. And the largest collection of flathead stuff I have seen at 1 guys house. Mild compared to some of stuff Hamb guy's have been turing out.

    A little update. I kinda back burnered the merc project to build a 34 ford pick-up. I put the flathead in the pick up. I just pick up a 365 caddy mill for the merc . I rebuilt a t-10 I think I am using, unless i go with a auto. And I am going to paint it black.
