A few pics of My new Merc and the barn it came from. No sale on the 41 coupe or the 50 ford pick up. But I got what I was looking for. These coupes are not falling out of the sky. A little rough but workable. Well its not to bad for a Michigan car. Does anybody know the hamber that makes the floors for these coupes? I think He is in Georiga. Thanks
Well my vision is a 50's custom. Flathead w/ cool vintage seed parts, chop top, skirts, drop soild axle, www w/ bullets. Paint will be suade root beer metalic but I change My mind alot. Yes It came with a frame and some misc. suspension parts. I pick those up Sunday at another location.
i got a call from a man in north or south carolina yesterday, that has a new floor and a trunk pan,he wants to sell for a 40 merc.let me know if you are interested and i will put you in touch
paul bradley is the man you were thinking of that makes floor pans.i have been told he is not doing it anymore.
Would be very interested in the floor pan. Things are comming together, got a line on a 47 ford 4 drop axle with a disc set up. The guy went to a IFS. I also have a 46 merc dash I think is going in. I kinda worked out for Me, had to sell my 55 chevy g***er project and a few other things this winter. Money was very tight and had to do a hod rod bail out. Things are back on track. I am take this one to the grave.
Looks like it's in pretty fair shape. Great find. I'll look forward to seeing what you do with the old girl.
I love those things! The only time I could be convinced to build a custom if is I had one of them. Though even my daily driver is rougher than that, I cant say I have ever started with a car even remotely close to that good! Doc.
Great find! I've got a '39 I've been plugging away on for several years. I just love the matranga style on these. You'll find you have to fab up a lot of stuff cause very little will interchange with a ford and very little has been repopped for these, but that's what makes it interesting and makes these unique! Have fun.
very nice looking body. good luck with your build . keep us posted. I have been working on a 39 merc coupe for years & started with less, but things are on track now. they make greatest looking kustoms.
The merc's are few and far between. Very lucky find and good luck on the build and hope you will post the end results.
Busy day, unloaded all the merc parts. Cleaned out 1/2 dozen dead things in it. I was very pleased. When I first saw the car and made the deal. It was dark and the barn had no lights. Doors and deck lid buried under the body. kinda rolled the dice. Also picked up the potential axle and bonus trans. The axle is not droped, yet but had the disc set up. heres a few pics. I am going to start a build thread, since I started grinding and welding already. To jazz up not to.
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=223462 That is the link to my floor build thread on my 40 Merc.
mazdaslam i remember reading your thread and was impressed at the way you pieced the rusted parts back ito place the best possible and built a floorpan/trunkpan to save the coupe. take a bow dudes! whats the latest?
I have a very nice original 39 Merc grill with all the bars intact, and the chrome center piece, latch, and two pieces for the hood freshly plated. Also have a complete front and rear set of bumper guards, and some chrome dash pieces. If interested I am Webster on the HAMB, neatoldstuff@webtv.net and Terry Seaholm at 253-759-8827
