Is one of these motors worth anything? There's one bolted in a big Dodge car in the "Old Stuff" section of my local junkyard and it's about to go to the crusher. I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to purchase such a motor, or are they a dime a dozen?

Mopar flathead sixes have a small following, but they ain't worth much. If it turns over and looks like it could be made runable without a complete teardown, it might be worth getting. But if it's been froze up since Reagan was in office and/or has been sitting in a car without a hood for a long time, I would just let it go. There are better things than that being crushed that you could save.

You called it, the car definetly does not have a hood, probably gone to crap. I was hoping I found some rare motor.

Oh well, back to the barns.

That happens quite a bit. The hood is often the first thing to go. If there are any good trim parts on that "big Dodge" they might be worth saving. Even though the Mopar cars don't sell for much, there is no aftermarket for them, so in my experience, good used trim sells very well. But I think saving the motor would be more trouble than it's worth.

The body panels are scary straight and rust free, but every single piece of trim is gone, even the badges. I found out it was a Dodge because on the trunk lid there was a silouette where the paint was unfaded in the shape of the word.

The interior is rotted out, smells pretty bad. The gauges and dash seem good though. Glass is solid too. This car just showed up a couple days ago, but cars only last a couple days in this pick n' pull yard before the crusher, it's mainly a recycling operation.
