I'm trying to gather parts for my future 32 Ford build and at this time I have a clean chassis slate....as in nothing mechanical purchased yet. I know that I'll be wanting an original 32 dropped axle so the front end will be built around it. That said, I have a chance to pick up a set of 40 spindles, hubs and drums and was wondering if these will work well on the 32 axle? I've seen threads for installing 40 brakes on 32 spindles but not for installing the 40 spindles onto the 32 axle... So is this a good way to go or should I be looking for 32 spindles and then put the 40 brakes onto them? Thanks.
Thanks 296 V8, I guess I'll get those 40 spindles then. Is installing them as simple as removing a 32 spindle and installing a 40 one or is there more to it than that?
Plug and play. Goes on just like the earlier ones. Just make sure when you get your kingpin set you specify 40 style. 42 up are longer. RG and I were typing at the same time. Don
Just currious, what's the difference between the 37-41 style and earlier kingpins? Thanks for the heads up on bending the steering arms too. I can hardly wait until I'm at that stage!
Different design to allow mechanical brake actuation shaft thru the center of the kingpin and the thrust bearing is carried on top of the spindle, under the kingpin hat.
