This is the picture I was actually looking for earlier but I couldn't find it at the time...

  2. One thing to keep in mind is the '40 coupes have no back seat but the long door '46-48s do, and it's big enough to get two adults into in comfort. The $ premium over a sedan is nowhere near as steep as it is with a '40...

Those pictures you just posted in non running condition and wiring that looks like old boot laces but with a good ***le go for $2500+ all day every day. A solid, rolling shell basically.

I put five adults in my tudor and put 100 miles in driving around the city one afternon and had no complaints

I don't know where you live in Tennessee, but the Nashville craigslist has several '46-'48 Fords (Coupe Sedans and Tudor Sedans) that look like they might meet your needs.

You'll get a lot more car for $2500 in a 46/48 than in a 40. You're going to have to put money into either but if it's what you want to do, go for it, they're out there. I just took a look at the Nashville CL and @arkiehotrods is right, you've got choices. It looks like the basket cases are a little pricey but the cars that are ready to roll are fairly reasonable though not original. There's a "barn find" '41 in Falkville that I'd jump on if I was looking for an original car.

From the suggestions from this thread I have definitely narrowed down the search to 46-48s. Thanks to everyone for the advice, at least now I know what to search for. I suspect it may take a while to be patient and wait on the right deal to come along.

    Thanks!
