If I get the rubber body bushings in by this weekend, Then I am going to sit the body back on the frame and start on the Firewall.
Great story. They're out there..I found my '38 Willys coupe in the bush on a ranch 1/2 mile from home. It was laying there since the '40's. The guy gave it to me. Just an old car with no motor......
Colin I just picked up some Coupe panels and a Coupe that was crunched into a ball lol I love that you got a free Coupe ! I sure didn't lol I can't wait to see yours ! This old Gasser looks like a good solid build and I will try to keep checking in on the progress . Wuta find ! Anyone want to buy some Coupe panels ?
I got the Body lowered onto the Chassis this weekend!!! Now I have to make sure the Body is square on the Frame, and start building my Firewall structure. I will take some better pictures the next time I work on it.
I got the body bolted down onto the frame with new rubber mounts. I am going to go with a underfloor master cyl. Has anyone done that on a Willys Coupe? Looks like it wont be too hard?
Hey guys, its been awhile. I have the driven the car around my parents property, and it runs good, trans shifts smooth and engine makes good power. Still working on firewall and floor pans.
Hey everyone I know its been awhile since ive posted, But I got the old floor pans and firewall out, and I am working on installing the new pans.... Can I get some pics of how anyone mounted a UNDERFLOOR brake master cylinder to the stock Willys frame? I installed mine but its too far back, I would like it closer to the firewall.... any pics would be great, just looking for ideas
Its been a long time since a update. But I have been buzy at work, and working on other not HAMB friendly vehicles.... Anyways here are some update pics, enjoy!
Great I was wondering how things were coming along. You were lucky to start out with such a solid complete willys coupe and the fact that it was your dad's is just icing in the cake.
This is in a pickup with a boxed frame and recessed firewall. Can you leave your M/C where it is and run a longer push rod? Move the pedal forward maybe.....
not to many like that out there anymore Keep up the good work! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thank you Kiwi Kev, that is basically what I did, I got it about as far forward as I can, that pickup is looking nice.... I look at nasty habit for inspiration. I got the tunnel formed and tacked in today, bolted the hilborn manifolds to the heads, so I can start on my throttle linkage.
Started cutting out the rusted metal on the rear part of the floor pan. 74 year old car, plus leaving the battery in the back since it was last ran, equals rusted floor pan!
I started cutting and shaping new panels for the rear floor pan section. I will take pics when I get them tacked in.
I finally got the floor pan section under the shelf finish and tacked into place. I got a friend of mine to roll some beads in it to match the front, and stiffing it up a little. Got my new bucket seats in the mail.... Fiberglass made in the USA from Moore Parts Source.
Thanks Guys. Anybody have pics of how they mounted there fiberglass buckets, in a gasser? I am either thinking of a peice of sheet metal with "speed" holes, or round bar stock legs, or sqaure bar stock legs... Which one would be more period correct?
