How much would one pay for a 1963 401 Nailhead out of a 2 door Riviera? I think it is the original motor although it does have a Wildcat aircleaner. The aircleaner says "Wildcat 445" which I know is the torque rating. If it is the original motor there is rouhgly 160,000 miles on it. The hood is still on, so no water damage. Has 4 barrel. No clue if it runs or not. I haven't looked that deep into it. I know the whole "pay for it what its worth to you" thing, but I have no idea how much they go for in reasonable, "rebuild-able" shape. I would probably take the motor/intake/carb/air cleaner if it is worth it. Also are the bell housings separate from the auto trans. And is the trans worth taking also? Thanks dudes Dan
63 was the last year for the DynaFlow transmission. Great for a custom. For a Hot Rod...Not so much. What are you going to put it in?
JDubbya just bought a complete 65' Buick Wildcat with a 401 and 400 tranny for $500. A 68,000 mile car with 45 fin front drums in GREAT shape.
a 2 door? as compared to what? just giving you a hard time, all rivi's in that era were 2 doors. as for the motor, if it turns over and feels like it has compression $600 or so complete head to toe with the tranny.
Aww man don't make fun of me, I am sensitive...... I will admit that I don't know much about this stuff though. Really just been sucking in information for about 4 years or so. Id be better off identifying knuckleheads or panheads. As of what its going in Ive got nothing as of yet. But I cant get enough of motors which aren't run of the mill. Thanks for the info
A few weeks ago I put a Wanted to buy 401 Buick for the Old Man on here..3 E-mails back $750,$850 $1500 If it helps...
I could have got a set up one a while back in the you pull it. $150. Car had a hood on it, it probably wasn't that bad.
