The Amazing Story of the Legendary Schithead Bros. 409 Powered ‘31 A Coupe A 40-year tale. It was December of 1980. Legend has it… The Coupe was purchased off a scrap of paper posted on the ‘For Sale’ board in Ted Gotelli’s Speed Shop in South San Francisco, CA. Found in a backyard in San Bruno, CA. $700 was paid for the Chopped and Louvered, straight axled car. It had fresh Midnight Blue paint and a sketchy trailer. It was just a shell, no engine, trans, pumpkin, floor, seat, or dash. The Guy said it used to run at Half Moon Bay dragstrip. (Closed in 1968). The ’55 pickup and that trailer. Pure Fifties. This is the first page of my story. I cannot figure how to post it. The error says' Does not have an allowed extension'. How can i send the file? Bob
Hello, Make sure you can copy the original story from what ever or wherever you got it to a Word Document. Some websites are strange and sites use their own whatever programs they want or use, to set it in place, where you copied it. if it is a paper copy and you scanned it, then make it a Word Document from the computer scan. Then once it is on a Word Document, it is as simple as Select All, Copy and Paste up to each photo. At those photos, you will have to copy and paste each one, separately. If there are more paragraphs, then again, Copy and Paste until you get to another photo. Same thing until you are at the end. Jnaki The easiest way is to make it into a Word Document or if one has a similar Apple program to the Word Document.
Thank you jnaki, I hoped it would be easier. I understand the sites are all different. It is already in a word format. The Story is 160 pages with 11 Chapters! I was hoping to do a link, but haven't learned that yet. More if anyone wants them. Bob
Hello. That is a lot of pages. But, it one wants to save it to their own computer files, then there is a way. Find the original posting on the web. On that website when you open the story, at the top is a identification link. See below If I wanted to go to the home page of the Lions Dragstrip Museum site, I type it in and this is what I get. The blue outline is the home page identification line. Now, I wanted to go to the Featured Vehicles and Projects page, so I click on that link. in Red Now I can see what I was interested in and scroll down the page. The link is circled in red. Jnaki If you go to your website where the article is found, then open it up to the full view. Look at the top of the page like the Lions Museum page. There you will see your webpage link to the full article and you can highlight it, copy it and paste it on your Word Document. When you paste it on the Word Document, it is red. the cursor is at the end of the red link and as soon as you move the space bar, it turns blue. Put the cursor in the middle of the blue link and right click copy it. Or, if you want to see the article, click on the link and it pops up in your computer screen. No need to copy and paste the whole 160 pages. You will lose 90% of the readers by page 5. Ha!!! But, for those that are interested and want to take their time on the article, it will be there as a link and they can do what they want. I would be interested, but I would take my time reading it if it holds my interests. Since we went to a lot of old speed shops in Northern California before and after my college years up there, it still holds an interest for me. Thanks...
Thanks for the reply's. I will attempt to put a link to my Word file. How about Ted Gotelli's SSF, or Champion Speed Shop in Colma, Andy's Tires next door, or Super Shops in San Carlos, or Vic Hubbard's in Hayward? Used them all. The 15" American 200S Mag on the house was off my '56 Chevy when I bought wider ones! Still works perfect after 50 years!
Similarities exist between the two coupes… Hello, A couple of years ago, I did a post on the Champion Speed Shop including this drawing. I have been an admirer of any set of good looking flames on a hot rod and/or drag racing coupe. The early claw flames were from the origins of flames for all hot rods. An early Friday Art project. "It is not red with yellow flames..." would be a reply of sorts... But the existing color photos are confusing. A purple version of the coupe was shown and then it changed color. Which came first? Purple or red? YRMV Jnaki But then there are drag racing photos with the claw flames and they are in B/W and no specific date. nice original style “claw” flames…
That is a Bad Ass Coupe. The chop is a little more than mine but just right. A lot more holes in the visor, and is on a rake for speed. Mine looks like a later gasser stance. (When I bought it). Mine has the louvers across the deck, as you can see in the towing pic. Love that 'Mr. Magoo' on the front! No radiator and no front brakes, and that later picture with a push bar, hairpins, and a ton of louvers, no taillights. A real pro racer. Looks like the same pipes. Marked JUN 59. Ya know, that chop looks different in front. Could that be red? It does have the lightning bolts. The red one looks like it may be a flathead from the 3 pipes. Anyone have any performance numbers?
