409 chevy

    Anybody know for sure if the 5 qt oil pan from a 409 fits in the 58 Chevy ch***is with out any clearance problems?

    Far as I know the 348 and 409 both use a 6qt pan and the only difference is the dipstick location. The 58s came with a 348 as an option.

    Don't know about the 58, I would think it should since the W motor is stock, but I had to cut out a clearance in a 348 truck pan to clear the steering in a 56.

    Thanks,car already has a 348. I just don't want any surprises when engine is on the hoist.
