Will a Posies reverse eye spring support the weight of a 409 in deuce rails? I've seen a couple cars with this combo and hope the owners chime in. I have one in my A sedan with a SBC and can bottom it out if I jump on the front frame horns. More leafs maybe?? Thanks.....Mike
Where does it bottom out? Is the spring hitting the underside of the framerails? Many custom 32 frames have a notched out area in the underside of the rails directly in line with the spring to avoid bottoming. If you don't want to mess with your frame, then add more leaves or put a spacer berween the top of the spring-pack and the underside of the crossmember.
When I ordered my spring from Posies, they asked a bunch of questions. One of them was what motor I was using so they could rate it properly.
My sedan is on an A frame and I do have it C-notched(about an inch) and it still bottoms out. The 409 in deuce rails is for my 30 coupe project that I'm gathering parts for. I figured with the extra weight of the W motor it will hit for sure. I have a stock A front crossmember I was going to use for the coupe project(Hiboy style). Maybe that will help. On my sedan I made a flat front crossmember to get it low(4" channel), that's probably the biggest problem. Can't C notch the front frame enough.
I got a posies super slider spring in my 32 w/ the nailhead, mine never bottoms out, dont know if the weight of a 401 and 409 are close. i also am putting a 348 in my 32 full fendered sedan, have a posies spring for that too, ill find out if thats a problem too! JEFF
Jeff, Do you have the stock 32 front crossmember in your car. If so how much differance is there between a 32 and 31 front crossmember?
my coupe has a flatened by 1" 32 crossmember, if i remeber right an A member is 1 or 2 inches flater.
