40s era sprint car

This is a sprint car I did a mechanical retoration on last year. the picture was taken on it's maiden run in dec. It's a Miller A with dual Winfield AR carbs, V8 pump with a home grown adapter, Mallory ignition. A trans, V8 clutch on a lightened flywheel. It has a Frankland fabricated quickchange with 40 bells, Coker repoduction tires on knockoff Dayton wires. 37 tube axle, A spindles, 40 brakes on the rear. It's on reworked Es*** rails. Custom built radiator and gas tank. I also fabricated a 4 into 1 header that is 7 ft long. Body is being done now, it is all hand hammered aluminum from back in the day. It was built about 1940, no history.

 

That's pretty darned cool!

 

I can picture some guy wearing the old leather football helmet and goggles sitting behind the wheel. I like it!

 

Looks great! Brings back a lot of memories of the 4Port Riley Sprint I had, Daytons make a car.
