I had a rusty old midget body and frame that my grandfather had kept in his crawlspace for some 50 years, so I put a drivetrain in it and I've had a ton of fun with it. This link takes you to my blog, where I've detailed much of the build process. http://needthatcar.com/category/ev-midget-build/ (Makes much more sense if you start at "Part 1" and work your way up.) I'm sure some of you will cringe at the choice of drivetrain, but I'll be interested to hear your comments. I can say this: The midget has bee 1000x more fun since I did this project than it ever was sitting around in pieces. Enjoy!
I enjoyed talking to you and your Lady at Bonneville this aug... Neat hearing about your car and the history behind it. Merry Christmas! Rick
Remember when you found the midget. The purists are gonna hate it. I can't critisize however, just finished putting an electric motor on my BSA sidehack. It's for the beach, where old guys drive around on golf carts, but this will be more fun. Hopefully the moderators will let your thread run for a while. It's neat you got to scavenge so much stuff, looks neat.
That BSA is awesome! I say, if it's going to get used and be fun, do it! (Moderators? Am I not supposed to post links?)
