    I've got a 41 that I'm using for suspension my 27 roadster. I'm using an A frame.

I know its common practice to use a 32 k member cut down to fit the A frame for Av8s.

What I'm wondering is if it is possible (likely) and more importantly, if it anyone has any info on cutting down a 41 X member to fit in the A frame. It extends pretty far forward and rear when I look at them side by side.

Any links to other threads or builds doing such would be appreciated. I did search and found a few mentions of 35-40 members, but nothing about the '41 X members other than it may have a hump in the way and that its the same as a 41-48.

Any info in general (what year ranges are similar) would be helpful.

    Thanks guys

I believe Dagel's makes an x member to fit Model A ch***is. You may want to take a look at their product at: http://www.dagelsstreetrods.com/super_x_crossmember.htm to see what it looks like compared to what you have from the 41. On another note, if the ch***is you have is from a pickup truck--that would be like a 40 car I believe. Also--what drive train will you be using? You may need to alter the center of your x considerably depending upon the transmission going in there.

    Hope this helps.

I recall someone else here on the HAMB using a mid 40s Ford X-member in their 28 or 32. It was turned over 180 degrees so the top was now on the bottom however I can't find the thread. I used a 46 Olds X-member with trailing arm rear suspension in a friends 42 Chevy PU, worked a treat.

Thanks for the leads guys. I will keep looking for more info.

I did find a thread on the HAMB last night where someone did use a 46 X in a 32 frame with great success. The A frame with the smaller interior dimension will obviously require some serious cutting down.

My main goals in doing this:
    -stiffen the A ch***is
-reuse the 41 pedal ***embly with brake MC with as little modification as possible

Might just need to start un-riveting the X member and have a go.

Here's a drawing I found somewhere. Of course this is a '40 or earlier X; but might help with some ideas, anyway.
