My 41 that I just got on the road recently.

 

The trunk is deeper than that isn't it? Reminds me of the time I brought a wheelbarrow home in an 74 Vette. But truth be told it was in a box

 

Yep the trunk is deeper than that and it could probably have fit but I had a plastic crate full of parts for the car in there

 

Good for you on this find. The body looks like it will clean up nicely. How long was it in that shed, looks like it was getting kind of sketchy?

 

Thank You. The cars were parked in 1961 . 4 years ago some friends and I helped the owners move the cars to a better barn . So the cars were in the shed for 58 years. The cars belonged to Friends of my Folks .

 

Any history on this car?

 

@topher5150 I thought at one time, someone gave an address or location for the pictures. A movie set, a famous street? Anyway, there is history surrounding the car.

Hello,

With the advent of more folks leaning toward a “van life,” in these days, why settle for a huge Sprinter van with wind blocking addition to the top for more room? The top heavy Sprinter van may give more room, but it blocks wind like no other, is extremely heavy and could top over in heavy winds or winding, rough roads.
from this bare bones early flathead powered sedan delivery as the starter model.

So, in our old days as teenager-20 something days, we used our daily drivers for overnight stops on our long road trips and surf adventures. The early single wall sedan deliveries were cold inside, with some moisture dripping down the inside wall panels as it got late into the evening activities. During the day, it offered sun protection for all and gave a nice quiet place to take a nap despite no insulation in the wall cavities.

There were moments that on cold nights, whether in Baja Mexico coast lines spots or in a campground in Santa Barbara, the moisture from normal breathing created moisture inside that was unusual to say the least. As surfers, we should hav liked the woody station wagons, but that offered little to no security if left alone in a deserted street or restaurant parking lot.

If left overnight in a residential area while we were a mile away on the beach, it was constant worries about breaking in offering our goods left in the woody wagons for anyone. So, a sedan delivery offered more secure locking abilities and at night, no one could see inside after a few drop down curtains or barriers inside. For all the CHP knew was that it was a residential parked car on the street instead of in the driveway.

To this 327 powered sedan delivery with full insulation and warm privacy in the rear cave.

So, here are my versions of a 46 Ford Sedan Delivery or woody solutions.

A sedan delivery with windows in place to not have any blind driving spots in the rear quarter areas. Could be a 4 door for better access to the rear area, too. Then it becomes a old Suburban style station wagon.
Not necessarily a panel delivery, but a smaller sedan delivery to be more car like.

To keep it in the mild custom range, perhaps a mild scallop or outline flames would join the fray…

The final odd build would be to replace the wood paneling with steel paneling under the woody side and rear outline wood beams. It would (pun intended) still be a “woody” in looks, but lower maintenance and security with steel panels for warmth and privacy.

This drawing would qualify as a something turned into a sedan delivery, offering more security, privacy, and better design parameters. Even the possibility of suicide doors to increase the ease of access to the seats and rear area is there... YRMV

At today's GoodGuys Scottsdale show...this had a 303 Olds in it.

 

Really a beautiful car, any more info like drivetrain, chassis, etc?
