hey i'm an FNG just picked up a 41 buick special tryin to find a straight 8 engine for it but noticed that there are many different types trying to find out what would work with it! thanks found a 40 buick engine a couple 48's and a 52.... everyone keeps givin me differnet answers
Any 248 cubic inch Buick straight eight from 1937 thru 1951 will work. However there is a motor mount difference starting about 1949. A 263 STICK SHIFT will also work, but the dynaflow equipped model has a different crank flange. The Roadmaster and Century 320 engines are about 4" longer than the 248/263, taller and heavier too, and the factory put heavier transmissions behind them, so they are not a good fit for your Special. I currently have 3 '41 Specials.......if I can help you further, PM me Ray
