Hello there my name is Steve. I own a 1941 chevrolet 2 door sedan that has a little family history. It was my great grandfathers which was given to my father in 1958 after his p***ing. My father drove it till 1962 when he parked it behind his parents house in northern Minnesota. As a kid through the early 1980's I would look at it during family trips to visit my grandmother. At this time I would bug my father to bring it home to Ontario. Well in the mid 80's he sold it for $100, as time p***ed we would ask grandma if she knew wear it was and we wear told it was still around the home town. In 1995 my father was home visiting and seen it in a persons front yard and stopped to ask if it was for sale. The fellow said yes for $200. So my father called me and told me he had found the car and it was for sale. Two weeks later my father and good friend Jeremy went back down and brought it back to my grandmothers. It sat their for 2 years until we brought it 600 mile home to wear I live. The funny thing is the car had been sold about 7 times and the ownership was never changed. It was still in my fathers name and he always had the ownership for it in his dresser so bring it home was easy to get it across the border. This was my fathers first car and he had some fun with it. He had split the exhaust manifold and had duel exhaust on it other then that is was original. Know at 40 years of age I plan on working on it with my boys that are car nuts. So my friend Jeremy told me about this form and I am glad to join and look forward to getting some good info on making it into a hot rod. As my plan was to always try and make it into a 1960's hot rod. I Hope this is a good introduction and will post some pictures of it later.

    Thanks: Steve

Hi. Sounds like it is going to end up a great car for you & your family and keep the old family car arund for more generations now.
Mine is a 46 Sport Coupe that I use as an almost daily driver & just love it. I upgraded engine fro the original 216 to a 1957 235 and added dual carbs, headers, 264 grind cam & HEI ignition & 12 volt conversion. Next will be a complete rewire and a vintage air heat-cool-defrost system to replace original heater. I am attempting to keep the outside & interior as original as possible with just the newer 6 cylinder & mods under the hood. I did change ring & pinion to a 355 ratio to make it a better Hwy driver. I plan on having the hood off for new hinges soon & will then take some pics of the engine and mods while I can get better lighting. Been wanting to add an engine photo to my avitar here. The previous owner did the paint job and redid the upholstery in original style in 1989-90 & it still looks new.
At the local shows & events my little coup really is a crowd pleaser and it is seldom they get to see an old style hot rod with a real Chevy 6 cylinder engine. It does not win a lot of trophies but it would if it was the older generation & the ladies voting from those viewing the shows.
Keep us posted and add photo's as you do the upgrades. If you get to looking for parts ask here as there is no telling what someone may have laying around or will share their parts sources with you.
    Jimmie
