I was attempting to re***emble the front suspension on my '41 coupe and was having difficulty in installing the upper link pin seals. I got them over the upper control arms, tearing one in the process. After I got the link pin in, I was able to get the rear seal placed but, tore the front one! trying to get over the "hex" of the link pin. The seals much stretch a great amount to install as per the manual. I tried luberication, even warming them up with a heat gun. Is there any difference between the seals sold by Chevs of the 40's vs. The Filling Station? I was using the ones from Chevs but might try the other vendor's 'cause now I have to buy more seals. Pissed and frustrated. Any other tips on how to go about this? Any advice?
Seems to me the front seal could be put in place before the hex headed bushing is installed. That would not affect installed the hex head bushing to the clearance point recommended (.020-.040), but appears to me would reduce the stretch needed to put it in place. Ray
