I would like to replace the original rear end with a newer, 6 lug pattern, 3:50ish or less ratio, but would like to use existing springs and just bolt another in and figure out new shock mounts afterward. I am told 55 chevy pu could work ? Any help is appreciated. I will have a 283ci and 350 turbo in front.
    Thanks:)

I dont exactly know the ratio of a truck rear end but my dad put in a 55 chevy truck rear end under his 36 chevy truck using the stock springs. All we did was get new pads which were welded to the axle.

MY 2000 SILVERADO IS 6 LUG. HAS 3.42 POSI(LOCKING), and you can get them pretty reasonable. make a great hot rod rear for your truck if it's narrow enough. may have to re weld spring pads.
