Been contemplating my dad's 41' Chevy sedan. He purchased in parts a decade back. It's just been collecting dust and barn swallow locator piles. It has skirts, and a fulton visor, no interior or engine/transmission. Street rods/resto-rod is out of favor in my area. Most are looking at 70 muscle 80's Irocs as they had them in High School. So, I'm thinking... Taildragger small block chevy with vintage 4 deuce manifold or perhaps 235 straight 6 with multi carb intake and split manifold exhaust. Nice wide whites and some stylish caps. Definitely a chop, I'm thinking a wedge chop, maybe even a sectioning sculpting in a long curve from windshield to rear bumper.
It ain't gonna fix itself. drag it out and start doing it. I would not section it. If it is your first time building a car, I would not chop it. Get it on the road and drive it!
I’d cruise it like it is. Sedans of that year can look odd chopped. So make sure you stare at it a lot. Do some photoshop work. Most I’ve seen are wedge cut leaning foward. I’m not a fan. Wedege shape chop leaning rearward? hmmmmmm sounds interesting. Will require a good bit of metal work in the sail panels to pull it off. Out of favor? Perfect. You’ll be a trendsetter Ok I like old 6s
YES!!!! However, I would suggest looking for a 261 Chevy (the big truck blueflame six cylinder 54-62, 58-62 are full flow oil filter.
Found this one on the FB. Yeah I know it's a coupe. But every idea needs a starting point, this one has the theme- look that I had in mind. The sedan would lengthen the roof line making the lines more consistent and flowing.
I have one also and am wanting to do a radical chop on it. I think with a straight chop, say 3" front & rear, you start to see that the front sits higher than the rear. It's not really a good look. Might work for a taildragger, but I'm not a fan. Probably why they get wedge cut with more out of the front. Don't listen to these guys saying leave it. They made a million of 'em. Cut it up!
