I have a buddy that lost a leg in a bike wreck. He picked up a real nice 41 chevy coupe a while back. What we need to know is, will an early powerglide fit in it or not.The motor and brakes have been redone so we hate to pull them. I'm a Ford guy and I have no idea. Any input would be most apperciated.

The back of the motor will be the same as the '50-54 engines.

The drive shaft is the same length as the 49-54 cars.

50-54 car driveshafts are the same for both stick and automatic.

So the question becomes is the '41 ****** the same length as a 49-54 car ******? If you can get me a measurement on the '41 ******, I can compare it to the '52 I have sitting here. If the distance from the front of the ****** case to the flange where the tube collar bolts up is the same, then it should work. It wouldn't hurt to get the torque tube section from a 50-54 Powerglide car as well, since it will have 3:55 gears instead of 4:11.
Keep in mind that it will loose alot of pep when you switch it to a PG, and a little more when you drop down to 3:55s. The gas milage will also drop noticeably.

There may also be issus with floor pan clearance and how to mount it all properly.
