So I have a couple builds in process and should have them rapped up mid-summer. Waiting in the wings I have a 41 Ford coupe to build next. My initial idea was to build an all out custom/sled/taildragger. The last couple of cars I built were along these lines(51 Packard, 51 Pontiac) My 46 Ford truck is pure Hot Rod. Now lately I've had a hanckering to build a nice street legal gasser style ride. My question is am I barking up the wrong tree with the 41'. I'm planning to start collecting parts soon and have ideas for custom but have not really seen a "Fat fender, Fat****" style like the 41' as a gasser. The car was brought out of a N. Dakota junkyard a couple years ago and basically has no floors and only half the frame left, so I'm not cutting up a pristine car either way. Attached is a file photo (carnut.com)of a 41', wondering if someone can do some photoshop magic to make a respectable gasser. Thanks a bunch guys!
If it only had half a frame, I would go the drag car way. But I also like customs. http://www.rikhovingkustoms.com/RHK1/Custom_Car_Photo_Archive.html
with the unique look of the frontend on a '41 I would go for keeping it as low to the ground as possible. Could channel it and still keep a working suspension-or order a custom Art Morrison frame ($$$)
I think the 41's look crazy cool as a custom.....and real awkward as a gasser....I know everybody is mad about gassers these days, but back in the day, that style came and went pretty quick....Now don't everybody kill me on this, it's just my opinion, and he asked......
