41 Ford Pickup Progress. PICS

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Baron Von Mike, Nov 23, 2004.

  1. Well its been about 6 months in the making, and I'm about there. I'd like to thank the HAMB for lots of help, especially HAMBers Jive-Bomber and JustinM. I'm going to post a tech on the work done, but here are some pics for now. I'm one happy guy. I'm lucky that I got to start with a very clean truck. From a stock truck I did the following:

    - Built up and installed a nicely souped up 50 flathead (Edelbrock heads and intake, Isky Max 1 3/4 cam with Johnson lifters, Mallory electronic ignition, new seals all around, stock bore/stroke)
    - 47 Ford truck transmission.
    - 10" clutch adapted to resurfaced 50 flywheel.
    - Open driveline conversion to the banjo.
    - Open driveline conversion for the radius rods.
    - 3.54 gears in the banjo.
    - Lowered front and rear.
    - Dual exhausts with dump tubes.
    - Electric fan.
    - Bigs and little wide white Firestone bias plys.
    - Rebuilt brakes.
    - Rebuilt radiator.
    - Moon tach.

The front still needs to come down a little and shocks will be installed next. These things came without shocks, just some rubber wrapped around the buggy springs! Like I said, I'll write up what it took to do the above, but for now, some pics.

I think Mike is still sorting out the whitewall tire stuff!- The good part is that the truck now runs and sounds killer. Fun to work on too. [IMG]

    Nice job, holmes.

BVM, Very cool man. I wish I would have known man. I was just in San Fran a week and a half ago. Very nice job man! Looks killer. I've been working on my 41 for over 10 years now. What size bias are your running. I have 5.60 in the front and L-78 in the rear. Looks like you have the same set up. Very nice man.

That last skinny white wall radial is going to be covered up so it won't be seen as being a radial.

8.20x15 at the rear, 6.20x15 in the front. Firestones from Coker.

By the way, anyone want to sell a metal spare tire cover for this thing? I'm looking for something like the one in the attached pic. I love the truck in this photo.

    Thanks for all the feedback.
