I found a complete 41 Merc motor thats been sitting for years n the ground, is the crank compatable with the 42-48 ford?

The '41 Merc is essentially the same engine as the '46-'48 Fords and Mercs: All 3 3/16" Bore by 3 3/4" Stroke. If you're thinking "Merc Crank", forget it- the 4" Sroke Merc crank didn't come out til '49.

This is a 99 block 239, the heaviest cylinder walled flathead. I'd have to check, but it may have a slinger type crank seal rather than rope like a 59A--cranks basically interchange, as do the inserts in block for the two types of rear seal. It's not a 4" motor, if that's your question, but might well be the most desireable block.
