My favorite brother in law is a traveling salesman in the grain storage business and visits alot of small towns like me. Usually he will only buy old Chevy trucks which he collects but he called me about a 41 Mercury sedan he stumbled across. Seems he had to detour thru an alley in a small town because of some road repair and spotted this car being driven into the garage by the owner. He thought he saw a for sale sign in the window of the car and asked the guy if it was for sale. "Yeah, I had it parked out front for sale a couple of hours and a couple of different guys stopped by to look it over and it was keeping me and my wife from taking a nap so I'm putting it back in the garage." So, he looks it over and calls me asks about it's value and so forth. The old car has a rebuilt Ford 8BA,*******, new brakes, dual exhaust, and the gas tank has been steamed cleaned. But the best news was it came with an EXTRA rebuilt engine and top loader*******. The paperwork shows alot of dough was spent on engine work. So, of course I advised him to buy it and the next day he brought it home. He still has to go get the other engine and I am hoping it is a Merc. Don't know yet. Anyway, it is just a sedan but a real decent old original survivor that I thought you might like to see.............

I didn't take photos of the interior yet but it is better than most. Still needs recovering however. There were so many boxes of extra parts inside we didn't take time to unload it yet.

Thats a cool looking car. I have one just like it,only mine has original green paint. But mine was close to that condition when i got it. I cleaned it up, lowered it and put 15" wheels and caps and new interior. I love mine. I'll post some pics tomorrow.--TV
Cool, post some pics of yours on here. I am hoping the paint will shine up somewhat although it is very thin. I realize it may not be hot rod material but could make a good family hauler. And the engine just purrs like a kitten. Love those flatheads.
Love it. Swapped a '50 chevy coupe for one of those back in the mid '60s. Wish I still had it. Many good memories of that car.
I have always loved the 41 Mercury... and I would not mind having a four door as family car. They make gorgeous customs. Valley Customs built this one...
I am now here by retiring !! I no longer want to be an Engine Pro !! It's a Traveling salesman that I want to be !! >>>>.
Hey Paul, Travis here. One of these days we're going to have to get all of dad's and Tom's old rides out and take a group photo. I'm also going to have to work on dad as far as who's the owner of this 41... I'm thinking it would look good in my garage next to my Galaxie, but Dad doesn't seem to share that point of view. Odd.
Shoot yeah...what a great find! So what if it's a 4-door, it is still WAY cool and I would really love to own it. My great uncle Jake had the twin to it when I was a kid and have always wanted one. The Fiestas and wide whites are a nice touch too.
Nice Car! Its a "Driver" not a "Survivor". A Survivor is an unrestored completely original car in fine running condition.
'41 Mercs are the best! I'm glad that Rikster put up the pictures of the Valley Customs one, 'cause I was thinking it's great inspiration.
I like yours so much I didn't notice it was a 4 door. Mine is a 2 door sedan, It had some dents to take care of on the lower sides of all four finders, we were able to match the paint and put clear on it, came out nice.--TV
Well, it has "survived" for 68 years without being wrecked or junked out so I'm gonna call it a survivor whether you think so or not.
You can tear off that outside mirror and send it to me, OK? What a beautiful sculptured piece that is!
You guys continue to tick me off..........you are now officially off my Christmas card list. (Another nice score, and yes that IS a survivor!)
