Thanks Rock! The spot welds I make are on the high side, requiring a bit more grinding, but at least this way I make sure the welds penetrate the sheet metal below.

^^^^ I wanted to do the Merc split on mine...Looks awesome!! I kept the stock and laid it forward, but this make me think I like that a lot better....

Thanks for the pic. I quite like what has been done here with the split window, but have decided to keep it as a one piece flat glass. I'm trying to give the car a clean look without modifying it too much on the outside.....

    Good luck with your build.

I have a warm spot for the 41 P12 Plymouth coupe. Had one in the 50s. Put 54 Red Ram engine in it in 1955. Installed motor first with the fully automatic but changed to standard folllowing near mishap without a neutral safety switch.

Used original engine mounts, resulting in engine too far forward and couldn't use fan. Had to move steering.

Still had a lot of fun with the old car. Recently ran into the guy I sold it too, Asked him if he knew the whereabouts of the car. Love to have it back, at least see it.

Still have running boards, rear splash apron and bumper tips.

Back to work on the car this morning. Spot welded the footwells and lower cowl. Next I'll grind the welds. Considering I have the whole week off, my intention is to finish the interior metal work by the end of the week.

I hope to pull the body off at the end of the month, then do some final welding on the chassis. Then it's time to sand blast and paint the chassis, going for a high gloss black. So to answer you guys, I expect to have the Hemi in the chassis by the end of March.

Today was welding day. I made some final adjustments to the tunnel, hammering it into place so it would follow the original floor better. Then welded it into place and did some of the usual grinding. Next on the list was the rear of the tunnel. It took me literally hours of fitting and grinding to get it to sit right. Spot welded it first initially, then welded the whole thing.

Once the body is off, I'll cut the floor from below, exposing the inside of the tunnel. All in all, got a lot done in 10 hours or so.....

Thanks resqd37Zep, actually, the hood conceals the surprise element....I like it better this way. The car itself will probably get enough attention on its own.....

Oh yeah, the Sleeper effect. Bet you could surprise a few Beemers and Mercedes' on the Autobahn! What gear are you planning on running?

I'll be running 3.70 gear with a Tremec tko 600 5 speed, .68 in fifth, giving me about 2200 rpm at 70mph.

Here's a pic I shot yesterday. Still playing with the idea to install dropped spindles in the front.....I guess I'll wait until I have the front fenders and grill on there, before ordering.

If I look at this right, based on what I've seen of your engine, coupled with trans choice & rear end gearing as well as the aerodynamics of the car you should have no problem hitting 150 mph or whatever it is in kph. That would probably make it one of the fastest sleds in the world. Damn!:D

Cleaned up the cowl/wiper/antenna holes, inside and out. Then proceeded to take the rear fenders off, in order to fill a few holes. The left rear fender, apart from a hole in front of the wheel where the exhaust came through, also had a badly welded patch where the fuel cap used to be. I have cut out some sheet metal and shaped it. Then welded it all up and did the grinding bit. I still need to hammer it into shape a bit more, (due to slight warping from welding) and will do the other fender tomorrow.

She's coming along nicely. I think the 5th gear ratio is .64. If it isn't, I just screwed up all my calculations for my 41 with the tko 600 and ordered the wrong rearend...yikes

Thanks Coupe Crazy! I just checked my old sales order from Keisler, and you're right. It's a .64 in fifth, not .68 like I stated before. Phew, your calculations are correct! :D btw, how's your project coming along?
